Kill Kimspeed released their latest single Inside. The single premiered on The Vinyl District and has been quite well received. The Australian band’s sound falls in the realm of Hootie & the Blowfish, Toad The Wet Sprocket, The Wallflowers, Meredith Brooks, Alanis Morissette and Natalie Imbruglia. Their musical essence is one deeply entrenched in nineties pop-rock, and folk – and this is a very good thing.
Singer Candy Cunningham has understood the often opposing forces which come with living your dreams and creating the art you’re inspired to create. But the best things come out of opposition. The magic happens when one find’s the space within one’s self to listen only to what is internal and serves you and to block out the external noise that always surrounds us. Something of this notion resonates within Kill Kimspeed’s sound. There’s an honesty, a nostalgia, an authenticity many musicians seem to have lost this past decade. To continue to create despite what others think, to know your perspective and artistic vision is good, and to continue to grow, evolve, and make beautiful art is an amazing thing. This drive and understanding is something that can be heard when Candy sings.
